Mike Kuchar is an American underground filmmaker, known for his contributions to the "New York Underground" film scene. He was born on August 31, 1942, in New York City. Along with his twin brother, George Kuchar, he created over 200 short films, mostly consisting of low-budget, experimental works that featured surreal narratives and campy humor.

Mike Kuchar's films have been praised for their unconventional visuals, distinctive style, and dark comedic sensibility. He taught film classes at the San Francisco Art Institute for over 30 years and was a recipient of the Guggenheim Fellowship in 2006. Kuchar passed away on September 6, 2021, at the age of 79, due to natural causes.
